Ten minutes of setup that matter more than the price.

A near-field speaker is voiced for a desk, which means where it sits changes what you hear. Here is the setup we use on the bench.

Spacing

Speakers and your head make an equal triangle. Roughly an arm's length each way is the starting point.

Height

Tweeters at ear height when you sit up. Angle them in so they point just past your ears.

Distance from the wall

At least a hand's width from the wall behind. Closer adds bass that is not in the recording.

The plot in the box

That graph is your unit, measured on the bench it was built on. Keep it: it is the reference if anything ever sounds off.
